Insulating the insulation

Hundreds of buildings insulated in the 80s were covered with EPS of 5 cm thickness. This thickness no longer meets requirements as regards the thermal protection standards and does not provide proper and effective insulation of partitions. Therefore, more and more often, while planning major repairs and refurbishment of facades, decisions about replacing the insulation are made as well. This means removing the existing systems and replacing them with new ones with an at least 12 – 16 cm insulation layer. Part of such works  is carried out with the “insulating the insulation” method. This method requires driving additional fixing pins into the existing insulation layer, gluing a new layer on top of the old one and binding the two insulation layers with  more fixing pins. Such technology results in a very extensive perforation of the panels and thousands of thermal and vapor bridges.

This obviously adversely affects the heat-transfer coefficient and the durability of  the entire system, but  particularly affects the durability of the reinforcement and plaster layers.

The Renovadex"insulating the insulation” system significantly reduces the negative results of thermal bridges and  enables adjustable mechanical fastening of the thermal insulation systems with a twin plate fixing pin. The construction of the pin enables injecting  PU foam and adhesives what improves the insulation properties of the entire repaired system.
